We headed up north to the county of Northumberland, situated in the North East of England. Our trip lasted 4 days and each day was started with a very early morning hike with the reward of a waterfall at the end of it. I personally think that every day should start like this, alas we, living in the South East of England, don’t really have waterfalls at all.
We love Scotland because you can drive for hours without seeing a single car and never get bored of the scenery. The people are friendly, the whisky is outstanding and the landscapes are stunning. So here are 12 reasons to add Scotland to your bucket list.
The Highlands is a historic region in Scotland. With dramatic landscapes around every corner, incredible history and monumental mountains, it’s no wonder that Scotland is one of our favourite destination. With the notorious rainfall, Scotland is packed with a countless number of incredible waterfalls.

The Island of Skye is situated off the West Coast of mainland Scotland. It’s the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides. It’s also like no other place we’ve ever seen before! With ragged landscapes, natural beauty and magical coastlines, Skye has a lot to offer and is the perfect winter getaway!

Lake Saimaa is Finland’s largest lake. Dotted with over 13,000 islands surrounded by clear, fresh water, the scenic landscapes don’t go unnoticed. With rare wildlife and local delicacies along with an abundance of outdoor activities, it’s a beautiful destination to experience in winter. While on our trip around the impressive Lake Saimaa we stayed in some incredible resorts, tasted wonderful delights and experienced a lot of snow!
When Brock and I were invited to visit Nova Scotia we were excited about many aspects of the trip; the breathtaking natural beauty, the outdoor adventures and the tasty seafood we’d heard so much about.
Something that definitely wasn’t on our bucket list was the wine. This was mainly down to our naivety in not knowing that Canada even produced their own wine.
Little did we know that not long after the start of our trip to the province of Nova Scotia we had tasted some of the best wine we’d ever had.
Neither of us have ever been massive seafood fans. But everything changed on our visit to Nova Scotia.
It wasn’t till we experienced the lobster rolls, the seafood chowder and the fish cakes that we’d begun to realise that the reason we hadn’t been huge seafood fans at the beginning was because we hadn’t experienced it in Nova Scotia.
Since travelling around the province and sampling the internationally acclaimed seafood we quickly expanded our knowledge and our love grew for anything and everything that came out of the Atlantic.
